Modulo
Agent governance for your agentic SDLC.
Modulo enforces boundaries on your agentic SDLC: every step validates against typed schemas, risky decisions pause for review where you configure them, and every action is written to a tamper-evident audit trail. Self-hosted and source-available, so your prompts and data stay in your infrastructure. Under the hood you compose agents, tools, and human gates into an explicit execution graph — the practice the industry now calls graph engineering.

What is an agent governance platform?
An agent governance platform is the layer that gives your agents boundaries. Agents are good at reasoning and generating output. They are bad at knowing what they are allowed to touch, when a human must review their work, and whether the output they produced is actually trustworthy.
Governance is the discipline of enforcing those boundaries. This is graph engineering — designing agent systems as explicit graphs of nodes (agents, tools, validators, humans) and edges (typed schema seams, deterministic gates) rather than one monolithic prompt. Instead of a single agent loop with no oversight, you build a graph: a network of atomic agents, each with a narrow job, connected by typed schema seams, deterministic gates, and a tamper-evident record of everything that happens.
Modulo is an agent governance platform built for the software development lifecycle. It gives teams a visual, composable pipeline of agents that move work across the tools they already use, with every action audited.
The category Modulo sits in
- Governance first. Enforced boundaries, gates, and rules around every agent action.
- Auditability built in. Every action recorded in a tamper-evident trail.
- Process management. Agentic work becomes a managed, repeatable process.
- Not an agent executor. We do not run your agents' reasoning loop - we dispatch to whatever runtime or system you already use to run your agents, then manage the inputs and outputs around it.
- Not a black box. You own the prompts, schemas, and governance; Modulo runs them.
- Graph engineering native. Compose agents, tools, gates, and humans into one explicit, governed execution graph — not a tangle of prompts.
Connects to the tools your team already runs: GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Jira, Linear, Confluence, Slack, Microsoft Teams, and 30+ more.
The governance gaps in agent pipelines
Agents are powerful and opaque. Without governance they become a liability: unreviewed output, no accountability, no way to measure whether they are helping. A single agent loop hides these gaps; an explicit graph of agents, gates, and humans surfaces them. These are the gaps Modulo closes:
No enforced boundaries
Agents can pass garbage downstream with no record. Without schema seams at every step, bad output flows straight into your tools and your production systems.
No human gates
Agents ship unreviewed work. Without a deterministic gate or a human in the loop, nothing stands between an agent output and the work that matters.
No audit trail
You cannot say what an agent did or why. When something breaks or ships wrong, there is no verifiable record of the action that caused it.
No evidence
You cannot tell if the pipeline is getting better. Without evals and run history, quality is a guess and autonomy cannot be earned.
How Modulo handles it
Modulo turns governance into configuration, not custom code. The same four moves take a manual process from idea to a governed, auditable agent graph:
Define
Typed schema seams at every boundary. Inputs and outputs validate against schemas before anything moves, so agents cannot pass garbage downstream.
Gate
Deterministic gates and human-in-the-loop where it matters. Risky work pauses for review with the evidence attached.
Audit
Every action recorded in a tamper-evident trail. Timestamped, org-scoped, and inspectable after the fact.
Improve
Evals on every output you want to measure, and autonomy that rises with evidence. Trust is earned, not assumed.
The result is a governed graph of atomic AI agents that automates your SDLC work with enforced boundaries, human gates where it matters, and an audit trail you can trust.
Who it is for
Modulo is built for teams that want control over their agents without building the governance stack themselves.
Platform & DevEx teams
Need a governed, self-serve way to automate SDLC work without giving agents a blank check.
AI product teams
Need evals and an audit trail before agents touch production.
Agencies
Need repeatable, auditable pipelines they can stand up fast for multiple clients.
Enterprises
Need self-hosting, audit trails, and human-in-the-loop control before agents can touch production code.
